A group of 47 Spanish wall and floor tile manufacturers belonging to ASCER will be taking part in CEVISAMA (in Valencia, Spain) from February 27th to March 3rd. The event, which has not been held since February 2020, is envisaged to attract high numbers of professional visitors and materials specifiers from all 5 continents.
CEVISAMA, the Spanish tile sector’s leading trade fair, has launched an ambitious campaign to attract similar visitor numbers to the event to those recorded in 2020. CEVISAMA will have 7 pavilions in all, covering a total exhibition area of 80,000 m2.
With the support of ICEX, ASCER has created a specific website www.tileofspain-cevisama.com featuring a catalogue of all the Tile of Spain exhibitor companies. Following the event, the website will be updated with a library of high-definition audio-visual resources. The online catalogue contains the contact details of the exhibitors and images of some of the new products presented by each of them, with an easy-to-use search engine to find the companies by either pavilion or alphabetically. The library will contain interviews, images and videos of the participating companies which can be downloaded in high definition format.
Tile of Spain’s participation in CEVISAMA will include close live monitoring of the event and details of new products by the exhibitor companies on the @tileofspain Instagram page under the #DiscoverTileofSpain, #TileofSpainatCevisama, #welovetileofspain and #wearetileofspain hashtags.
Tile of Spain-ASCER has scheduled an international press conference as usual, with a presentation of salient data for 2022, promotional activities, details of trends in design (by the ITC-AICE’s Observatory of Tile Trends) and the prize-giving ceremony of the 21st Tile of Spain Awards for Architecture, Interior Design and End-of-Degree Projects. The press conference will be held on Tuesday February 28th at 10.30 a.m. at Feria de Valencia’s Events Centre.
In collaboration with ICEX España Exportaciones e Inversiones, Tile of Spain is organizing a visit for members of the press and materials specifiers, with some 100 guests from leading architecture, interior design and tile journals and design studios from all over the world in order to promote the Tile of Spain brand name and the image of the Spanish tile sector.
The event’s organizers have focused on programming activities with a high added value for materials specifiers, and an Architecture and Design Forum has been organized with the participation of prestigious international figures, such as the two Pritzker award winners Anne Lacaton and Francis Kéré and famous architect David Chipperfield.
Other parallel activities have been scheduled throughout the week within the framework of CevisamaLab and CevisamaBuild and in Proalso’s area for tile-laying demos. During the event, the prize-giving ceremony of the Alfa de Oro Awards will be held, as well as Distributors Day with the support of Andimac. This will include a presentation of ESVEC, promoted by ASCER, the tile vendors’ school for training experts in the tile distribution sector. During the event, the Ivace Tile of Spain Promotional Awards will be held, with the UK as a guest country, a key market for Spanish tile manufacturers.
Trends in exports in 2022
In 2022, goods were exported by the tile sector to a total of 187 countries for a value of 4,272.7 million euros, representing a rise of 16.6% in relation to 2021. Although these foreign sales figures are positive, the demand in some important markets has taken a knock due to rising prices and inflation. In 2022, sales by volume (m2) dropped by 13%.
50.5% of the exports were made to European countries, our natural market, with 39.1% of these being sent to EU countries. The United States continues to head the export ranks, with exports for a value of 516.1 million euros (+15.4%) in 2022.
